Four months after he was one of three Michigan players granted a release from their scholarships, Richard Ash has found himself a new place to call home.

In a release, Western Michigan announced that the defensive tackle has officially been added to the football team’s roster.

As Ash graduated from Michigan this spring, he’ll be eligible to play immediately in 2014 for the Broncos.

Ash appeared in 13 games during his time in Ann Arbor, including five contests in 2013. He was credited with his first career tackle in the November loss to Ohio State last year.

The 6-3, 314-pound lineman was a four-star member of UM’s 2010 recruiting class, rated as the No. 25 tackle in the country and the No. 49 player at any position in the state of Florida.

For the second time in less than two years, Jay Harris has tossed aside a football scholarship to pursue his music dream.

Western Michigan head coach P.J. Fleck confirmed Tuesday that Harris is no longer a part of the Broncos football program. The wide receiver, originally a Michigan State signee, announced back in November that he would be restarting his football career at WMU. Harris had what was by all accounts a very good showing during spring practice, leading some to believe he could be an immediate contributor in 2014.

Western Michigan head coach P.J. Fleck announced Thursday afternoon that two of his players — linebacker Eddie Rolle and defensive lineman Devante Lee — have been indefinitely suspended from the football program. Fleck would only state that the two were punished for violating unspecified team rules.
