First reported by Wes Rucker of GoVols247, Jones subsequently confirmed to the Knoxville News-Sentinel that Jason Carr will transfer out of the Vols football program. Carr had been moved from defensive to offensive tackle this spring, although it’s unclear if that played a role in his decision.

The quarterback competition at Tennessee appears to be losing one contender for the job. Redshirt freshman Riley Ferguson, expected to be contending for the starting job under center this fall, is expected to be leaving the program according to Tennessee head coach Butch Jones.

Former Alabama running back Alvin Kamara is staying in the SEC. On Saturday Kamara announced on Twitter he will be joining Tennessee, one of the schools that had been mentioned as a possible landing spot since Kamara made the decision to transfer out of Alabama.

This is a tremendous addition for Butch Jones and the Vols, because Kamara was a four-star recruit out of high school with plenty of potential. When initially reported it was though Kamara would be prohibited from transferring to any other SEC school but that restriction was quickly thrown out of the picture. That was great news for Tennessee, and the program pounced on the opportunity to add a talented running back to the picture.

Kamara previously stated he would be playing football at the junior college level in 2014 with the hope of returning to the FBS level in 2015. Kamara had also visited Clemson, which appeared to be a top candidate along with Georgia and Tennessee.

Last month, Charles Mosley was involved in a car wreck that the Tennessee Highway Patrol deemed serious enough that the 2014 Tennessee signee was “lucky to be alive.”

Unfortunately, as a result of that accident, the start of Mosley’s collegiate career has been put on hold.

Head coach Butch Jones confirmed to 247Sports.com that Mosley will likely miss the entire 2014 season because of injuries incurred in the wreck. The lineman sustained a broken leg in the accident, one in which he was a passenger in a vehicle that was being driven by a family member.

In 2013, Justin Worley began the season as Tennessee’s starting quarterback before being sidelined by injury.

Fast-forward to 2014, and the Vols’ are in the same signal-calling boat.

As expected, UT head coach Butch Jones announced that Worley is his starting quarterback. Worley had been involved in a competition with Josh Dobbs and Nathan Peterman for the job.
