Pittsburgh Depth Chart Empty Re: Pittsburgh Depth Chart

Post by TheKTC Sat Aug 13, 2011 4:56 pm

Hey, just wanted to give you my two cents from following Pitt training camp ...

Zach Brown is going to be #30 and he appears to be the clear-cut No. 2 running back behind Ray Graham. I actually think Desmond Brown is going to be passed on the depth chart by some of the incoming freshman -- Corey Davis, Malcolm Crockett or Isaac Bennett.

Kevin Weatherspoon appears to have been passed by freshman Darius Patton.

Greg Gaskins has fallen down the depth chart. The most likely starting o-line (at this point) appears to be Chris Jacobson at left guard (again) Ryan Turnley at center. So Gibbs, Jacobson, Turnley, King, Nix from left to right. Also, Brandon Sacco has left the team.

Alright, so the defensive line is kind of weird. Pitt is going to run a 3-man front with a something called a Panther linebacker, which is essentially a standup defensive end. The Panther position is where Brandon Lindsey will play and he is backed up by freshman Juan (formerly known as Ejuan) Price. I don't know how you want to handle that since the game doesn't really consider hybrid positions.

Greg Williams is at Spur, he's backed up by Todd Thomas. Thomas looks like he could really push for playing time. Eric Williams is down the chart there.

Tristan Roberts, Shane Gordon and Max Gruder are three guys battling for the two inside linebacker spots. My money would be on Gruder and Gordon to be the winners, but I'm not sure.

K'Waun is the main man at corner, freshman Lafayette Pitts is going to be his backup. Buddy Jackson and Antwuan Reed are battling for that other side.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the backup kickers. Some people might want the recent transfers on the roster (Cullen Christian (Mich.), Ray Vinopal (Mich.), Brendon Felder (N.C.), Tom Ricketts (PSU)).

Those are my thoughts. Hope this post is useful and I hope I put it in the right place.
