I believe this to be more accurate. Defensively, they'll be running a 4-3 Under, not a 3-4. The biggest questions at this point are probably at the Saftey positions.

Again, there are still questions at Saftey and about who's at S and who's at LB in the group of T. Gordon, Furman, Robinson, Hawthorne...but this seems to be where each was at during the spring. Floyd and Woolfold are both coming of injuries at CB, which may allow Avery to push one of them (Floyd seems further behind at the present). The TB depth chart could really break anyway at this point, with the players listed, as well as Fitzgerald Toussaint and both incoming freshmen.

Few very small changes. Made all the RB's co-starters because any of them could very well start. Moved Roundtree to the outside in front of Stonum because we aren't sure if Stonum will play this year. Added Drew Dileo as the starting Slot reciever because he started there in the spring game. On defense I added Blake Countess at CB and Thomas Gordon will be the nickle CB in that package. Could also add Fitgerald Toussaint and Justice Hayes at RB.

Looks About Right

Post by Eugene37 on Tue Jun 14, 2011 8:08 pm

Kenny Demens is the unquestioned starter at MLB. WLB would be Jones or Evans, but MLB is definitely Demens. He took over last year around mid season. Also, if healthy, the starting CB's will be some combination of Woolfolk, Avery, and Floyd. Woolfolk (missed all of last year) and Floyd (injured at the end of last year) are coming off injuries. Neither took part in the spring, but both are expected to be ready to go in the fall. The only way Anderson surpasses them is if they aren't healthy (which is certainly possible, but I don't think it's the most likely scenario).

RB is really a whole bunch of OR's. I really have know idea who will emerge from that pack as the main guy, or if anyone will for that matter, it's really wide open. If Stonum isn't suspended (still totally up in the air), he probably is the third WR, although he'd play on the outside when he's in, with Roundtree moving inside. One last note that's probably not that important, I think Je'Ron Stokes may end up quite a bit higher on the WR depth chart, but that isn't based on anything concrete.

To nitpick a couple very small things. WR 17 Jeremy Jackson is a Soph. Would move Pace to 3rd string C and add Freshmen Christian Bryant at G. Craig Roh has put on some weight and was reported at 268. Marell Evans should be a WLB and co-starter with Mike Jones. And I would switch Woolfolk to the other CB and have Floyd and Avery as an OR for the 2nd CB spot. Again this is just being very specific.

Agreed

Post by Eugene37 on Wed Jun 15, 2011 7:39 pm

I agree. Starting LBs should be Gordon (SLB), Demens (MLB), Evans or Jones (WLB). Starting CBs Woolfolk and Avery or Floyd. The LBs are for sure. The CBs are more up in the air, but this is the most likely scenario.

Rosters

Post by goblu42 on Tue Jul 05, 2011 1:47 pm

I thought I would try to help out by doing this similar to the way that Tennessee fan did them. If anyone has any changes they would make to this please point them out.

QB
16- Denard Robinson
7- Devin Gardner
11- Russell Bellomy (Change to #3)

HB
2- Vincent Smith
20- Michael Shaw
33- Stephen Hopkins
28- Fitzgerald Toussaint
15- Michael Cox
29- Justice Hayes (Change to 5)
add 38- Thomas Rawls

9- Martavious Odoms

17 Jeremy Jackson
10- Jeremy Gallon
8- Terrence Robinson (change to Je'Ron Stokes #6)

TE
86-Kevin Koger
88- Brandon Moore

LT
77- Taylor Lewan
69- Erik Gunderson

LG
56- Ricky Barnum
57- Elliott Mealer

LE
88- Craig Roh (up to 268 pounds)

You can bump up Denard to 216 pounds and leave him at six foot and lower all his body sliders to 0. I think this would be better than making him 6'2. Up to you though.

I'd do this to give him dark skin and dreads.

Roster

Post by GoBlue on Wed Jul 20, 2011 3:51 am

Hey Luvtotha9s, I'm a die-hard and knowledgeable Michigan fan, so here's my opinion on the best possible roster in depth chart form. I will note possible expendable players (Players that you may decide to remove in favor of another one you deem more important; I will also suggest replacement players by priority in that same note) to help you out as well.

As far as equipment goes, it wouldn't let me post the link to the URL, but I made a thread in the Michigan sub-forum that directs you to Google "Mike DeSimone" click on the first link in the search query, then at the home page click the "My Michigan Pix Database" link at the top left of the page, then submit the pre-typed username and password, then connect to "MichiganFootball," and then you can use the "Search" feature to type in any player who has ever played in a game for Michigan (and even some who have not) and then you'll see dozens of pictures to choose from that will help you edit player equipment accordingly.

I hope this helps! Fell free to ask me any questions if you need help.

(Note that my suggested depth chart is just my opinion and may vary differently from the opening day roster, as no one knows the exact depth chart yet; Even so, this is probably as accurate as anyone would be able to come up with aside from the coaches, players, etc. aside from the fact that I made necessary adjustments in relation to the NCAA Football video game roster limits)

QB (3)
Denard Robinson
Devin Gardner
Russell Bellomy
HB (6)
Michael Shaw
Vincent Smith
Stephen Hopkins
Thomas Rawls
Fitzgerald Toussaint
Michael Cox (Expendable Player; If you decide to remove this player I suggest adding in HB Justice Hayes)
FB (1)
John McColgan
WR (Cool
Roy Roundtree
Darryl Stonum (Currently suspended; may or may not be reinstated to the team, I suggest leaving him on the roster until any official word on his status is announced)
Junior Hemingway
Martavious Odoms
Kelvin Grady
Je'Ron Stokes
Jeremy Jackson
Jerald Robinson (Expendable Player; If you decide to remove this player, I suggest adding in either WR Drew Dileo or WR Jeremy Gallon; both are return specialists)
TE (4)
Kevin Koger
Brandon Moore
Ricardo Miller (Expendable Player; If you decide to remove this player, I suggest adding in an OL like LT Erik Gunderson or RT Tony Posada or C Jack Miller)
Chris Barnett
LT (2)
Taylor Lewan
Chris Bryant
RT (2)
Mark Huyge
Michael Schofield
LG (2)
Elliott Mealer
Ricky Barnum
RG (2)
Patrick Omameh
Rocko Khoury
C (2)
David Molk
Christian Pace (Expendable Player; If you decide to remove this player, I suggest adding in another OL like LT Erik Gunderson or RT Tony Posada or C Jack Miller [Which ever one you didn't add in if you decided to remove TE Ricardo Miller])
LE (3)
Craig Roh
Will Heininger
Chris Rock
RE (3)
Ryan Van Bergen
Jibreel Black
Brennen Beyer

Yeah, and your point being?

In my proposed roster I suggested to leave Hayes off, but to add him back in for Mike Cox if so desired.

I would point out that Cam Gordon and Jake Ryan should be on the same side. Michigan will be playing a 4-3 Under per D-Coord Greg Mattison. This will put Gordon (the strong side backer) up on the line most plays, outside the strong DE. The other outside spot (WLB) has alot more in common with the MLB spot than it does with the SLB spot. Gordon and Ryan are both SLB guys, at least as of now. Demens will start in the middle, and either Mike Jones (hopefully), or Marell Evans will start at the WLB.

Obviously things could change in the fall, but this is where things stood coming out to the spring. I would put Gordon and Ryan on whichever side the game moves up when you run 4-3 Under. It won't be perfect, because when you reverse your defense, it won't move Gordon to the strong side, but those are the limitations of the game

One other note, which was reflected in your depth chart, but Will Campbell needs to even with Q. Washington. One of those two will be the starter, Campbell would seem to have the inside track, although he's been a disappointment to this point. For now I'd probably make them equally rated, Campbell higher AWR since he spent two years at DT and Washington's been their for about 9 months, and have Campbell the starter next to Martin.

Christian Pace is also off the team (medical) although he was not on the default roster anyway. Teric Jones is off the team (medical) and rumor has it DT Terry Talbott is off the team (medical), but Talbott has not yet been confirmed by the University/coaches.

Terry Talbott's career is officially over (medical).

Also, and this may have been suggested earlier, I would replace WR Terrence Robinson with WR Drew Dileo. Dileo could easily be the punt returner this year and may play in the slot later in his career. Robinson hasn't never developed and I think his time has passed.

Michigan has announced that Darryl Stonum will redshirt this year. This is basically a one year suspension stemming from his DUI arrest this spring. I would suggest leaving him on the roster and moving him to the bottom of the WR depth chart, because he'll spend the season with the team and they fully expect him to return next year (and would definately be a starting WR at that point).

UPDATE:

Also, punter Will Hagerup has been suspended for the first 4 games and Terrence Robinson for the opener. This doesn't change much for your roster, as I would replace Robinson with Dileo anyway, and you're not gonna add a backup punter. It does maybe increase the case for replace default kicker Seth Broekhuizen with freshman Matt Wile. Wile will almost certainly fill in for Hagerup for 4 games, and I expect him to win the kicking job as well.
