Re: Virginia Tech 2014 news
The 2014 season is still months away from kicking off, but Virginia Tech will reportedly be down one offensive lineman this fall. Brent Benedict suffered a knee injury during the spring that continues to cause problems putting his 2014 season, and perhaps his career, in jeopardy.

Nearly a year later, the prodigal wide receiver has returned.
A Tech official confirmed to the Roanoke Times that Asante is once again a member of the football team and is set to play for the Hokies in 2014.

Re: Virginia Tech 2014 news
Mark Shuman entered summer camp as Virginia Tech’s projected starter at right tackle. Entering the final two weeks of camp, the Hokies will be looking for other options at the position.
In a release Thursday, Tech announced that the offensive lineman has been, following an MRI, diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his right knee. Shuman suffered the injury during practice last week and will be lost for the entire 2014 season.
As a result, the fifth-year senior has decided to take a medical disqualification and retire from the game. He will, though, remain on scholarship.

Re: Virginia Tech 2014 news
A knee injury and subsequent surgery a month ago was expected to keep Luther Maddy out for 2-4 weeks. Unfortunately for both the defensive tackle and Virginia Tech, that prognosis was wildly optimistic.
In a tweet posted to his Twitter account Monday night, Maddy revealed that he will need to undergo go yet another surgery on his injured knee. Because of that, Maddy will miss the remainder of the 2014 season.
One of the lone bright spots in the situation is that, while Maddy is a senior, he has yet to use his redshirt. “I’ll redshirt this season and play another year at [T]ech,” Maddy wrote on social media.
