Kansas News
While the offense was not scaring anyone last season, one player to watch for the Jayhawks in 2011 is tight end Jimmay Mundine. Mundine redshirted last year but has drawn plenty of praise from head coach Turner Gill. Kansas' more consistent tight end, Tim Biere, says "Jimmay brings some athleticism and a little bit of excitement to the position."

Kansas loses recruit to academics
Rick Wheeler, high school coach of running back and Jayhawks signee Dreamius Smith, confirmed to the Kansas City Star that his former player has failed to qualify and will not play for KU in 2011. While his grades were good enough to pass NCAA muster, he simply could not achieve a qualifying score on his ACT despite multiple attempts at the test over the past year and a half.

Kansas picks up Arkansas WR
Three years after giving a nonbinding verbal commitment to Kansas, Neal Barlow has finally found his way to Lawrence. And back to the gridiron, as it turns out.
According to JayhawkSlant.com, the wide receiver has decided to both resume his football career and do the resumption with the Jayhawks.

Re: Kansas News
For the first time in his young collegiate career, Prinz Kande started a game this past weekend.
Unfortunately, the first was also the last for the linebacker, at least as far as the 2012 season is concerned.
While the school has yet to confirm the severity of the injury, the Lawrence Journal-World is reporting that the redshirt junior suffered both a torn ACL and MCL in the loss to Rice Saturday. As a result, Kande will miss the remainder of the year.

Re: Kansas News
Kansas picks up transfer DE
Five months after signing on as a member of Cal’s 2010 recruiting class — after originally being a Notre Dame verbal — and citing the need to get away from Berkeley “distractions”, Chris Martin announced that he was leaving Cal and wound up at Florida a day later. Less than a year later, the defensive end left Gainesville as well following an herb-centered arrest.
Now, after spending the past two seasons at the JUCO level, Martin is back with an FBS program. For how long remains to be seen.
Martin confirmed to JayhawkSlant.com that he will sign with Kansas Wednesday after spending the 2012 season playing for City College of San Francisco. Jayhawks head coach Charlie Weis recruited Martin while the former was head coach at Notre Dame and the latter a high school player in Aurora, Colo.
