fourth-string quarterback Preston Dewey has decided to remain with the ‘Canes.

Miami linebacker Gabe Terry was arrested earlier this month on charges of possession of marijuana and resisting arrest without violence. Consequently, he was suspended indefinitely by head coach Al Golden.

That indefinite suspension has officially been labeled as a dismissal. Golden confirmed as much Thursday afternoon.

LB transfers

When last we heard regarding Eddie Johnson‘s status in mid-March, the suspended Miami linebacker was no longer enrolled at the school and his future with the Hurricanes was very much in doubt.

A month later, the situation has been clarified and, as expected, Johnson’s immediate future does not involve play for The U.

Speaking to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the head coach at Hinds Community College in Jackson, Miss., Gene Murphy, confirmed that Johnson has signed a letter of intent to play for the JUCO football program. Murphy said he had not consulted with UM head coach Al Golden before accepting Johnson into his program.

Miami picks up punter transfer, listed a top depth chart

Cincinnati head coach Tommy Tuberville confirmed Tuesday that punter Pat O’Donnell has decided to leave the Bearcats for a transfer to Miami. Tuberville said the Palm Beach (Fla.) product decided to leave UC in order to be closer to home.

Multiple foot injuries resulted in Wisconsin defensive lineman David Gilbert calling it a career in April.

Turns out, Gilbert’s career isn’t done yet. Michael Casagrande of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that Gilbert will transfer to Miami and immediately play out his final year of eligibility with the Hurricanes. “Paperwork is still being finalized, but the decision is done,” Casagrande writes.
