"...Athlon is still putting out a good magazine, but it doesn’t end there. The folks there, like many of us in the news business, recognize the hunger for more and are delivering it with regularity online at athlonsports.com.
And they think highly of the Cowboys.
In a recent online story, Athlon ranked the top players in the Big 12. OSU came in at No. 1, 5 and 6. No surprise, Justin Blackmon is No. 1 and Brandon Weeden is No. 5. At No. 6, tackle Levy Adcock gets high mention as the only offensive lineman in the top 15.
The Cowboys are clearly commanding respect, occupying three of the top six spots in the league-wide rankings. And there’s more, with Markelle Martin at No. 16 and Shaun Lewis at No. 33 in what amounts to a Top 35."

One player who may have helped replace the production lost (192 receptions, 2,237 yards, 21 touchdowns) with the departures of Justin Blackmon and Josh Cooper for the NFL has abruptly departed himself, multiple media outlets are reporting.
The head coach at Lamar University confirmed in a text message reported by, among others, the Daily Oklahoman and Tulsa World that Kevin Johnson has left the Cowboys and is transferring into his program. An OSU spokesperson subsequently confirmed the wide receiver has been given a release from his scholarship.
The transfer was first reported by the Beaumont Enterprise.
No reason was given for Johnson’s decision to leave Stillwater. As Lamar is not a Div. 1-A (FBS) program, Johnson will be eligible to play immediately in 2012.
As a redshirt freshman last season, Johnson had zero catches for, oddly enough, zero yards, but was listed as No. 2 at one of the receiver positions on OSU’s most recent depth chart. In the spring game, he caught three passes for 95 yards and a touchdown, a signal that he could’ve played a rather significant role in the Cowboys’ offense this season.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Cowboys freshman linebacker Jeremiah Tshimanga alleging that somebody had withdrawn a total of $700 from his bank account without his permission. Tshimanga told police officers investigating the incident that it was a teammate, with Internet speculation centering on running back Herschel Sims.
Today, OSU announced that Sims has been dismissed from the football program. The school did not address the impending legal situation facing Sims, rather falling back on the old “violation of unspecified team rules” as the reason for the dismissal.

"Okafor, who will be a redshirt sophomore in 2012, played in two games for the Cowboys a season ago and made one tackle in the season opener against Louisiana-Lafayette. He was moved to the offensive line in the spring and was listed as the third-string right tackle on the pre-spring depth chart."

Redshirt freshman DT Mike Mustafa has left the Oklahoma State football team and is not expected to return.
Despite leaving the program, Mustafa is reportedly still in good standing with the team. He was listed third on the preseason depth chart at defensive tackle.

Oklahoma St DT leaves team
Over a span of eight months beginning in December of 2011, Oklahoma State defensive lineman Christian Littlehead was charged on three separate occasions for various off-field incidents.
While Littlehead made it through the 2012 season with no off-field drama of which we’re aware, it doesn’t appear the drama’s completely behind him.
By way of the Daily Oklahoman, Cowboys sideline reporter and GoPokes.com writer Robert Allen is reporting that Littlehead is no longer a member of the football team.

Re: Oklahoma St News
Tracy Moore returns to Oklahoma St.
The NFL released its list of scouting combine participants earlier this week, and included on the roll for the Victor’s Secrets pro underwear show was erstwhile Oklahoma State wide receiver Tracy Moore.
Moore’s inclusion surprised many as it was thought that the receiver would be granted a waiver and return to the Cowboys for another season. As it turns out, and after a bit of confusion, that’s exactly what happened.
Gina Mizell of the Daily Oklahoman confirmed through an OSU official late this past week that Moore will indeed return to Stillwater for another season. The reason for Moore’s inclusion on the combine list? An oversight, Mizell reported.
