Baylor picks up defensive back transfer
A week after deciding to move on from Pittsburgh, and rumored to be headed to Baylor, defensive back Kolby Gray has done just that.
In a press release issued by the school, head coach Art Briles confirmed that the Houston native has signed a financial aid contract and will be a member of the Bears football team this fall.

Baylor threat suspended indefinitely
In 2010, Josh Gordon was far and away the Baylor Bears’ most explosive wide receiver, best evidenced by his school-record 94-yard touchdown reception against Kansas.
Whether or not Gordon gets the chance to build off last season, apparently, remains to be seen.
In a release issued by the school, Baylor announced that Gordon has been suspended indefinitely from the football program for violation of team rules. Head coach Art Briles was quoted in the release and, as expected, he shed absolutely no light on the situation that led to the suspension.

Seastrunk to Baylor? Looks like it
The implications of the NCAA's investigation into Oregon have captured its first victim, directly or indirectly.
Lache Seastrunk, one of the names implicated in the Willie Lyles' debacle, asked and was granted a release from his scholarship at Oregon.
Now Seastrunk is going home. The assumption was that the running back would transfer to Baylor due to its close proximity. David Smoak of ESPN-Central Texas has confirmed these assumptions.
Seastrunk had plunged on Oregon's depth chart, but the former four-star recruit will provide a shot in the arm for an explosive Baylor offense in 2012.

Former Oregon running back Lache Seastrunk has officially enrolled at Baylor, and he'll be eligible to play in 2012
Seastrunk will be an interesting piece to the Baylor puzzle next season.

Baylor makes official former Gonzaga point guard’s transfer
Demetri Goodson looks to add depth to Baylor's secondary. He's Michael Goodson's - formerly of TAMU, now with the Carolina Panthers - little brother. Arizona State had offered him a football scholarship before he chose to continue his exclusive pursuit of basketball and signed with Gonzaga.

Re: Baylor News
Per message boards, FWIW:
"He is a true cover CB if the kid had played football he would have been recruited by all of the Big 12 schools... Goodson has great quickness, ball skills and he can fly...."
Per news reports:
"Goodson, a 6-foot, 175-pound guard, started 35 games for Gonzaga last season, averaging 5.2 points and 2.6 points to help the Zags to an 11th consecutive West Coast Conference championship. The Spring, Texas, native hasn’t played football since starting as an all-district cornerback for Klein Collins High School as a sophomore. The younger brother of Carolina Panthers running back Mike Goodson, Demetri started 68 of 69 games in the last two seasons in the Gonzaga backcourt."

Defensive lineman retires
With just four days before the season opener against SMU, Baylor is getting bad news on the injury front. Senior defensive tackle Kaeron Johnson is done for the season because of a back injury that will require surgery, according to the Waco Tribune-Herald.
A fifth-year senior, Johnson will not seek a hardship waiver from the NCAA that would grant him a sixth year of eligibility. As a result, his playing days are over.

Re: Baylor News
Any hope Baylor held of Shawn Oakman contributing immediately to its defensive line have officially been dashed. Probably
The Waco Tribune reports that the defensive end’s appeal for immediate eligibility has been denied by the NCAA. Baylor, however, has appealed that decision, although it’s expected that move will be denied by The Association as well.
Oakman was dismissed from Penn State earlier this year following an arrest. While NCAA sanctions against the Nittany Lions dictate that any current or incoming player could transfer and not sit out the season as normally required, Oakman was given the boot months prior to punitive measures slapped on the PSU football program.
Oakman was a four-star member of Joe Paterno‘s final recruiting class at Penn State in 2011.
