Just pick a school

In the past two years or so, Brandon Willis has done the following: verbally committed to and decommitted from Tennessee — twice*. Signed a Letter of Intent with North Carolina in February of 2010, then requested a release from UNC six months later so that he could transfer to UCLA. Seven months later, in March of this year, Willis requested a release from his UCLA scholarship so that he could transfer back to the Tar Heels.

Unbelievably, although not exactly unexpectedly this time around given the coaching change at the school, the defensive lineman is looking to hit the transfer trifecta in less than one full year.

Josh Hunter takes his leave of UNC

In addition to Hunter, running back Hunter Furr (East Carolina) and defensive lineman Brandon Willis (UCLA) (again) have left UNC in the past three weeks.

North Carolina loses LB for season

Re-injuring an ACL will sideline North Carolina linebacker Darius Lipford for the entire 2012 season, according to multiple reports

Worst yet, Lipford sustained the injury last Thursday while undergoing rehab for the very ACL tear he suffered in the Independence Bowl against Missouri last December.

Lipford will redshirt this season, though he was apparently already on track to do that anyway. He’ll undergo surgery next month and have two years of eligibility remaining starting in 2013.

Lipford started four games last season and recorded 42 tackles.

North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora confirmed on Monday that senior wide receiver Todd Harrelson is off the team due to a violation of team rules.

North Carolina loses LB to transfer

According to multiple sources, senior linebacker Fabby Desir is expected to transfer.

Desir, a junior college transfer from Scranton (Pa.) Lackawanna College, was a late addition to UNC’s 2011 recruiting class. The 6-foot, 225-pounder was listed as Kevin Reddick's backup at middle linebacker in UNC's media guide.

The son of Haiti emigrants starred as a running back and defensive back at Scranton (Pa.) High School, but academics forced him to go the JUCO route.

Desir missed the final two games of 2011 after tearing a groin muscle against Virginia Tech. He played in ten games for UNC, accumulating 15 tackles.
