In early February, Connor Brewer was arrested on a couple of misdemeanor, alcohol-related charges. Five months later, it appears the quarterback’s days as a Texas Longhorn have come to an end.

According to Horns247.com, Brewer has decided to transfer out of the UT football program and is no longer a member of the team.

My take: He will play a Aaron Williams circa 2011 role. 1st and 2nd down and LCB. 3rd down he will be in the nickel (also like Kenny Vaccarro last year who would move from SS to Nickel on 3rd down).

Texas linebacker Jordan Hicks sustained a hip injury in an early season win over Ole Miss last year. About two months later, and after being mentioned on multiple injury reports, Hicks was officially ruled out for the remainder of the year and the university said Hicks would apply for a medical redshirt.

Via Max Olson of ESPN.com, UT officials confirmed Tuesday during Big 12 Media Days that Hicks has been approved for a medical redshirt. He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining for the Longhorns beginning this season.

Texas wide receiver Cayleb Jones was suspended for the Longhorns’ season opener against New Mexico State thanks to an off-the-field incident in February. Now, he won’t suit up for UT at all in 2013.

The university announced late Wednesday night that Jones will transfer. The sophomore has been given his unconditional release, but it’s not known yet to where he will transfer.

Texas senior DT Ashton Dorsey has decided to transfer.
