East Carolina gets North Carolina transfer

Just over a week after leaving North Carolina in the wake of Butch Davis‘ dismissal, Hunter Furr, as it turns out, won’t have to leave the state to continue his playing career.

The ex-Tar Heels running back confirmed to the Raleigh News & Observer that he has decided to transfer to East Carolina. Furr spoke to the coaches at ECU shortly after leaving UNC, and decided Greenville was the place for him.

ECU suspends DT indefinitely
In a press release, East Carolina announced Thursday evening that defensive tackle Terry Williams “has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities effective immediately.” Per the release, the move was the result of a drug-related arrest earlier this week

WR dismissed

Having already served a one-game suspension for the season opener, Dayon Arrington‘s career at East Carolina has officially come to an end.

In a press release issued late Sunday night, ECU announced that the senior wide receiver has been dismissed from the football program for violating unspecified team rules

Rio Johnson, QB, leaves team

After starting the first two games of the 2012 season, Rio Johnson lost his job as ECU’s quarterback to Shane Carden.

Two months after having his starting job yanked, Johnson has decided to take his leave of the program.

Head coach Ruffin McNeill announced Monday that the junior is no longer a member of the Pirates team. Johnson met with McNeill and his offensive coordinator recently to inform them of the decision, which came down to one thing: playing time, or lack thereof.
