Ducks point guard Johnathan Loyd, the Oregonian reported earlier in the week, has decided to make the jump from the hardwood to the gridiron. Loyd began practicing with the team Monday as a wide receiver.

Unfortunately, the Ducks worst fears have been realized as, citing multiple team sources, Aaron Fentress of CSNNW.com is reporting that Bralon Addison suffered a torn ACL during a practice session earlier this week. According to the Oregonian, Addison will miss the entire 2014 season because of the knee injury.

Another QB to reportedly transfer from Oregon

The depth behind Marcus Mariota at quarterback continues to get thinner and thinner.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Jake Rodrigues had decided to transfer out of the Oregon football program. Saturday, it was reported by 247Sports.com that fellow backup Damion Hobbs (pictured) would be doing the same.

Oregon was to have a set of twins on the roster this season, but those plans have changed. Freshman (soon to be sophomore) linebacker Tyrell Robinson is on his way out of the program, although his twin brother Tyree Robinson will stay in Eugene.

As originally reported by Duck Territory, Tyrell Robinson has been granted a release from his scholarship, allowing him to pursue other options to continue playing college football and perhaps competing for a better position on a roster.

Head coach Mark Helfrich confirmed to The Oregonian Thursday that defensive back Eric Amoako has decided to leave the football program and continue his playing career elsewhere. As is ofttimes the case, no specific reason was given for the decision to bolt.

“Eric asked for and received a release right after spring football,” Helfrich said. “We wish him all the best in pursuit of his educational and football goals.”

As was the case with the Robinsons, the redshirt sophomore’s twin brother, Stephen Amoako, is expected to remain with the Ducks.

Another Oregon departure has taken place. This time former Newport (Ore.) star Oshay Dunmore has left the program.

The details of his departure are unclear at this moment. Oregon officials have not commented nor confirmed our report on Dunmore. However, he is not expected to return this Fall to the football program.

Dunmore originally signed with Oregon in the 2012 class as an athlete, but got his first shot at defensive back. Last season Dunmore contributed at linebacker for Oregon making an appearance in 10 games.

According to GoDucks.com, Dunmore finished the season with 10 total tackles for Oregon.

This offseason has seen Oregon lose two reserve quarterbacks to transfers. With today’s development, that net loss at the position has been cut in half.

In a tweet posted to his Twitter account, Ty Griffin announced that he is officially transferring into the Ducks football program. Griffin will have to sit out the 2014 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules, but will have three years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2015.

For Oregon left tackle Tyler Johnstone, it is the worst case of déjà vu. Johnstone re-injured his ACL ligament in his right knee last week and will undergo surgery later this week to begin treating the injury. The injury and surgery will keep Johnstone from playing in 2014 for the Pac-12 favorites. Comcast Sportsnet Northwest was first to report the injury news.

Johnny Ragin, get to Vegas; you’re on a roll.

Shortly after the 2013 season ended, the linebacker transferred from Cal to Oregon. Because he was a transfer to another program in the Pac-12, Ragin would’ve been forced to sit out both the 2014 and 2015 seasons; an appeal for a waiver was successful, however, and lopped that sit-out time in half, making Ragin eligible to play in 2015 after sitting out this season.

For reasons not yet publicly released, Ragin filed yet another appeal for a waiver that would allow him to be immediately eligible in 2014 — and won.
