LSU 2014 news

Post by GoAztecs on Fri Jan 24, 2014 12:04 pm

Southeastern Louisiana has confirmed that LSU defensive backs Derrick Raymond and Jerqwinick Sandolph have transferred into the FCS program. Because the Lions play at the FCS level, both players will be eligible to play immediately in 2014.

Sandolph played in 12 games during his time with the Tigers, including three in 2013, while Raymond did not see the field at all during his two seasons in Baton Rouge. Both players were three-star members of LSU’s 2012 recruiting class.

Along with Sandolph and Raymond, LSU confirmed this past Wednesday that offensive lineman Derek Edinburgh Jr., linebacker Lorenzo Phillips had decided to transfer out as well. Another LSU transfer, Micah Eugene, has also enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana

The father of LSU backup quarterback Stephen Rivers told the Baton Rouge Advocate on Wednesday that his son has decided to transfer from the Tigers’ program.

The rising junior was slated to compete for the starting quarterback spot this spring, but he appears to be the odd man out of a five-man competition that will reportedly place a heavy focus on mobility and the read option. The 6-foot-7, 225-pound Rivers is a traditional drop-back passer.

Suspended indefinitely last year, Kavahra Holmes has decided to make this latest separation from LSU permanent. Maybe.

In a tweet posted to his personal Twitter account, the defensive back wrote the following: “Its been great LSU, but its a new start of my life.. Thanks to all the coaches and fam here!” That tweet was posted at 6:13 p.m. ET Monday; it has since been deleted.

While the school has yet to confirm it, defensive end Jordan Allen told TigerRag.com that he has been granted permission to speak to other schools about a transfer. Because he would be a graduate transfer, he would be permitted to play immediately and use his final season of eligibility at an FBS program.

QB Hayden Rettig confirmed to the New Orleans Times-Picayune this weekend that he has decided to transfer out of the LSU football program. It’s at this point in the program where we usually mention that the Bayou Bengals have yet to publicly address Rettig’s status with the team moving forward.

LSU defensive back Jalen Mills was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with second-degree battery according to a report by a Baton Rouge news station.

As reported by WAFB, Mills was booked on a second-degree battery charge. As a result, Mills has been indefinitely suspended by LSU, allowing for the legal process to play out for now before making any further judgements on his status on the roster.

The 2014 class...wait, what? Yeah, the current LSU roster grew by one on Monday when junior college tight end Colin Jeter committed, eligible immediately.

LSU senior wide receiver Rob Bolden will transfer to another school prior to the 2014 season, a source close to LSU said Monday. Bolden transferred to LSU as a quarterback from Penn State two years ago.

Bolden, a 6-foot-4, 208-pounder from Detroit, was moved from quarterback to wide receiver last spring but was not expected to have an impact in 2014. Possible landing places include Central Michigan or Eastern Michigan, the source said.

The quarterback cavalry has officially arrived in Baton Rouge. Or something like that.

Following up on the reports from Monday, LSU officially confirmed Tuesday that Jared Foster has decided to join — actually, rejoin — the Tigers football team. Foster has spent the past three seasons as an outfielder on the LSU baseball team.

In 2011, Foster was a walk-on quarterback for the Tigers. Buried on the depth chart, he switched his attention to baseball full-time shortly thereafter.

Because of a pair of transfers this offseason, LSU was set to head into summer camp with just two scholarship players at the quarterback position. At most, and barring injuries, Foster will serve as a No. 3, emergency-type quarterback behind sophomore Anthony Jennings and freshman Brandon Harris.

"LSU freshman football player Trey Lealaimatafao suffers serious injury after punch through window, school confirms".

Dude punched a glass window because his girlfriend pissed him off.  My question...why have a girlfriend in college?  You're so supposed to be fucking every co-ed in sight.

In a move not even remotely unexpected, it appears LSU won’t have one member of its 2014 recruiting class at its disposal.

In a tweet, Ross Dellenger of the Baton Rouge Advocate confirmed that, according to head coach Les Miles, “Trey Lealaimatafao will ‘probably not‘ play this season after arm injury.”

While the school has yet to confirm it, the Baton Rouge Advocate is reporting that Quentin Thomas suffered a torn biceps recently. As a result, the redshirt junior defensive tackle is expected to miss the entire 2014 season.
