In announcement prior to the Rams’ Saturday scrimmage, coach Steve Fairchild said that five players are on the receiving end of issues related to either team rules or academics.

The Loveland Reporter-Herald reports that fullback Kivon Cartwright, wide receiver Byron Steele and defensive back Ezra Thompson have violated unspecified team rules and will be suspended indefinitely from game competition this season. They will, however, still practice with the team.

Additionally, offensive lineman Justin Becker and wide receiver Tony Drake have been ruled academically ineligible.

LB Jordan Murphy cut from team and will transfer to Colorado
S Drew Reilly transferred to BYU

Former Appalachian State senior DE Lanston Tanyi will finish his final year of eligibility with Colorado State.

CSU Rams
Head Coach: Jim McElwain- First year HC at school. Alma Mater- Eastern Washington (although the game doesn't have it.) He's a 49 yo offensive minded coach that was previously with Alabama (OC). Has a total of 27 yrs of coaching experience. According to the school's website, they will have a multiple offense and multiple defense. I don't know if I would have his prestige as a D+ but should be higher I think coming from 'Bama. Before there, he was a OC at Fresno State, and a Assistant HC at Michagan State.
OC: Dave Baldwin- First yr with school. Was previously with Utah State. The 57 yr old is in his 33rd season coaching total. Alma Mater- Cal Sate (again, not in game). Has a decent resume. Coached at Cinci, Baylor, Michigan State, New Mexico, and Utah State.
DC: Al Simmons- This 49 yo has 27 yrs of coaching experience at UTEP, Cal, ASU, and SJSU. Primarily a DB/Safety specialist. He is in his first year at CSU and his alma mater is again, not in the game (Cal State).

CSU picks up transfer OL from Ohio State

it was announced by Ohio State that freshman offensive lineman Joey O’Connor would be transferring from the program to be closer to home.

That destination will be Colorado State, barring an unforeseen complication. While Rams coach Jim McElwain (pictured) did not directly address O’Connor’s addition on Signing Day, O’Connor basically did the job for him.
