Texas 2014 news
Texas OT Josh Cochran has decided to retire from football due to a recurring shoulder injury.
He started 23 games for the Longhorns over the past three seasons. "Just want to thank my friends, family, and Longhorn Nation for all the support during my football career!!" Cochran tweeted on Friday. Charlie Strong will have his hands full figuring out his 2014 offensive line, because, in addition to Cochran's retirement, Trey Hopkins, Donald Hawkins and Mason Walters have all graduated.

Texas adds walk-on QB Bram Kohlhausen
The former three star recruit from Houston lost out in the QB battle at U of H, transferred to Los Angeles Harbor College and played only three games before a season-ending injury (66% completion, 7 TDs, 2 INTs). He bypassed scholarship offers from FCS schools to walk-on at Texas

In an attempt to add some depth at the quarterback position, the Texas Longhorns have added Blinn College quarterback Logan Vinklarek as a preferred walk on, according to a report from Horn Sports that was later confirmed by 247Sports.
The 6'2, 220-pounder is an Austin native who attended high school at La Grange, where he was first-team All-District in 2010 and the District MVP in 2012. He also helped lead the La Grange baseball team to the 3A state championship, where he was named the MVP.

Re: Texas 2014 news
If there was one thing the Texas football program needed, it was a focus on discipline and getting a toughness back. That is what makes head coach Charlie Strong a terrific hire for the program after cutting ties with Mack Brown. Strong’s message to the team was put on display once more Friday morning with news of senior running back Joe Bergeron being dismissed from the roster.
Bergeron is the seventh player to be booted from the Texas football program since Strong arrived on his saddle in Austin. That number has skyrocketed in the past week with four others being dismissed this week. Running back Jalen Overstreet and defensive end Chevoski Collins were also dismissed by the program on Thursday for various violations, according to the Austin American-Statesman. Wide receivers Kendall Sanders and Montrell Meander were also suspended by Strong on Thursday as a legal situation stemming from an alleged sexual assault.

Hold the phone on at least one of the players reportedly booted past the Austin city limits.
Both Rivals.com and 24/7Sports.com are reporting that Josh Turner is once again a member of the Texas football team. Per the latter recruiting website, Turner was set to transfer when, “just prior to Turner finalizing his plans, head coach Charlie Strong allowed Turner to appeal to the decision of his dismissal.”
A meeting with head coach Charlie Strong was held Tuesday night that went well enough that Turner was placed back on the team, albeit with what 247Sports termed as “severe restrictions.” What those restrictions entail wasn’t divulged.

Re: Texas 2014 news
The first day of the work week has not been a good one for the injury reports around fall camps. The latest hit comes from Austin, Texas, where senior Texas Longhorns quarterback Miles Onyegblue has announced via Facebook he has suffered a torn ACL and tears in other ligaments. The injuries will keep him inactive for the 2014 season.

Re: Texas 2014 news
When a new head coach takes over a program, like Charlie Strong did at Texas, existing players on the roster can view the move in one of two ways. They can either be a part of the solution or part of the problem.
Former four-star recruit Rami Hammad has apparently taken the latter course. Hammad didn’t embrace a fresh start and instead struggled to make an impression with the new coaching staff. As a result, he reportedly doesn’t see a future for himself in Austin, Texas.
According to Orangebloods.com, Hammand has decided to leave the Texas Longhorns and transfer to another program.

Re: Texas 2014 news
Monday brought word that the three indefinitely suspended Texas players would remain that way at least through the Kansas game this Saturday. As it turns out, one-third of that trio (likely) won’t ever play for the Longhorns again.
UT announced late Tuesday morning that Kennedy Estelle has been dismissed from the football team by head coach Charlie Strong. The only reason given was a “violation of team rules.”
