Miami the latest to take a personnel hit to its roster.

The football program confirmed Tuesday that offensive lineman Malcolm Bunche has decided to transfer from the Hurricanes. No reason was given for the departure and there’s no word yet to where the Delaware high school product may head next.

Miami senior quarterback Ryan Williams suffered an ACL injury in his right knee Friday night during a scrimmage. The non-contact ACL injury will lead to a surgery to be completed in the next week, according to a statement released via email by Miami on Saturday.

In a press release, Miami (Fla.) announced that Jake Heaps has signed a financial aid agreement and will transfer into the Hurricanes football program. Just this past Friday, Kansas officially – and finally — confirmed that the quarterback was transferring from the Jayhawks.

Because Heaps will be a graduate transfer, he will be eligible to play immediately in 2014. And, not only that, but Heaps will have the opportunity to start immediately.

Miami is acting quickly in response to two players being charged for sexual battery. Linebackers JaWand Blue and Alexander Figueroa were arrested on sexual battery charges on Tuesday. The two were quickly reported to be dismissed from the football team by head coach Al Golden.

The Associated Press reported the two linebackers each face charges for sexual battery on a physically helpless victim. On top of that, Figueroa was charged with possession of a stolen or forged driver’s license. Details about the incident are still being confirmed at this time, so there could be much more to this story soon enough.

Bruce Feldman of FOXSports.com reported via Twitter the two players were dismissed from the program on Tuesday. To be dismissed so quickly by a program may speak volumes about the legitimacy of the charges and the situation. Typically an indefinite suspension is the first move b a program, but Golden and the Hurricanes struck quickly with a full dismissal.

Both players played mostly a back-up role for the Hurricanes last season, although Figueroa started two games at outside linebacker earlier in the season.

Social media postings: Miami’s Rayshawn Jenkins out for ’14

Based on a pair of social media postings, a significant piece of Miami’s defensive puzzle won’t be available at all this coming season.

Last night, Rayshawn Jenkins wrote on Facebook that he “[w]ill not be playing this season but I wish my boys the best.” The defensive back added that he “would do anything to be out there with them but everything happens for a reason.”

According to the Palm Beach Post, TE Beau Sandland has asked the Hurricanes for a release from his scholarship in order to transfer.  As for a potential destination, the Post wrote that “Sandland… wanted to attend college and play football in an environment more like his Woodland Hills, Calif. home, which borders the Santa Monica Mountains.”

As it turns out, Kiy Hester‘s stay with Miami was a very brief one.

Following practice Monday, UM head coach Al Golden confirmed that the defensive back and the football program have officially parted ways. Hester was granted a release from his scholarship due to an unspecified personal situation.

And just like that, Kevin Olsen‘s very brief career as a Miami Hurricane football player has come to an end.

Early Tuesday afternoon, Miami confirmed the expected by announcing that the erstwhile UM quarterback no longer a part of either the football team or the university. “Kevin Olsen is no longer a student at the University of Miami. We wish him the very best in the future,” a statement from the school read.

For the last couple of weeks, one of the questions surrounding the Miami football program has been when will Al-Quadin Muhammad make his 2014 debut. The answer’s now here — and it’s he won’t.

A school spokesperson confirmed to the Miami Herald that Muhammad has been suspended from the football team and will not play at all in 2014. He is no longer enrolled in school and is officially separated from the university; however, the Herald reports, Muhammad could return to classes next semester.

It’s unknown if the defensive end will take that tack or if he transfers to another football program. If he chose the latter route, he’d have to sit out the 2014 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules if he lands at an FBS school.
