USF quarterback transfers to South Alabama
Former USF quarterback Matt Floyd has found a landing spot for a transfer. South Alabama announced Thursday the program welcomes the transfer quarterback, with two years of eligibility remaining.
“We recruited Matt out of high school, he was the No. 1 guy on our board at quarterback,” said South Alabama head coach Joey Jones in a released statement. “He ended up going to South Florida, so having this opportunity to get him will be great for our program not only at quarterback but because of his character and leadership skills — he is a high-quality young man. Matt is a dual-threat quarterback; he fits what we do because he can run and throw, he has a strong arm and good size. We feel like we’ve got a guy who can fit into our scheme offensively.”
It was reported in late February Flolyd was looking to transfer. Because he will have already graduated, Floyd will be eligible to play right away at South Alabama instead of having to sit out a season under typical NCAA transfer rules.

Re: South Alabama 2014 news
Josh Magee has already left one FBS football program, and is set on doing the same a second time.
South Alabama head coach Joey Jones confirmed to al.com that Magee has decided to leave the Jaguars due to family reasons. The website wrote that “Magee will look to play elsewhere, probably closer to his home in Hoover (Ala.).”
The move came as a surprise as Magee had a solid spring practice, with Jones saying that “obviously, we had high expectations for Josh.”
