True Freshmen WRs
Freshmen WR Default Ratings
Notes:
--For USC, I think they only have either Marqise Lee OR Victor Blackwell; I can't tell which one it is. I know Lee was recruited as a Safety also, but there are no Freshmen DBs on the roster. Their size is almost identical, but neither one matches up perfectly with their listed size from Rivals.
--Once again, I think EA did a good job with the ratings:
Farmer could use a little more speed and athleticism.
Metoyer has unreal Route running ability but below average speed. That matches up with Rivals' scouting report. His ratings look eerily similar to Ryan Broyles' from the past 2 years.
Kasen Williams is another guy who according to reports doesn't have great speed, but is great at catching the ball. He is tied for 1st in CIT with Jaxson Shipley (Jordan Shipley clone?) and also has 88 RTE.
--George Atkinson is a RB in the game
--Colt Lyerla is a special case. He's listed as a LOLB in the game. I list him with the WRs only because of Phil Steele's rankings. Lyerla could play TE, LB, WR, RB, or even return kicks. He's a Brian Urlacher type of versatile player. Supposedly he could walk into the NFL combine and tear it up right now. His athleticism should be looked at to reflect this. He'll be fun to watch.

Victor Blackwell matches up exactly (according to rivals) to WR#84 on USC. Although only separated by a pound 99% of the recruits matchup to their rivals page.

Right, I've been using Rivals to match up HT and WT with Teambuilder.
WR #84 on Teambuilder is 6-1 186.
Rivals has Blackwell at: 6-0 186
Rivals has Lee at: 6-1 187.
So who is really matches up better?

Tough to say, they're both rated right next to each other. If I had to guess I'd say Lee. He may also play safety.
The good thing about USC is they'll be below the scholarship limit again this year so it'll probably be easy to get their 69 most important players into the game.

Re: True Freshmen WRs
Just curious, where was Tennessee WR Vincent Dallas rated by Phil Steele? Or did he only rank the top 25?

Re: True Freshmen WRs
yeah true, but don't even get me started about only 69 spaces....I'm still bitter about that....We should have 85 spaces and then everyone could be added no problem...I wish the depth charts were a bit deeper as well....4 QBs 10WR 7DT 7CB

Agreed completely. I know it would take longer for you, but it would be so much better to have 85 man rosters. It always is difficult to decide which is the last player to add to the roster. It would help if the depth charts were deeper too.luvtotha9s wrote:yeah true, but don't even get me started about only 69 spaces....I'm still bitter about that....We should have 85 spaces and then everyone could be added no problem...I wish the depth charts were a bit deeper as well....4 QBs 10WR 7CB

According to this: http://rivals.yahoo.com/flavarsity/football/recruiting/commitments/2011/usc-62
Blackwell is 6'1 186

Re: True Freshmen WRs
One of my few gripes with FSU's roster was with Kelvin Benjamin's catch rating. Some may say I'm being a homer, but watch his highlights and you can see he catches everything with his hands and away from his body just like your supposed to.
What really made me laugh was when i saw every DB on FSU's roster has a better catch rating than him. I'm not saying he is "All-World" but a 61 catch rating is laughable to me, I think a low 70 rating (70-73) would be fair.
Here's his highlights if you wanna watch:

I think some of his ratings were curious. I haven't watched the highlights, but I really doubt he should be 88 RTE running, especially at his size. Not too many guys that big create a ton of separation.
He also has really good CIT and SPC, so I'm sure we can cut back on his RTE and maybe CIT and get his CTH more reasonable.

Re: True Freshmen WRs
That probably is a little high, i didn't notice that. But if you watch his highlights I linked you will see he is a very smooth receiver for being 6'6 ~230.Palo20 wrote:shakenbake wrote:One of my few gripes with FSU's roster was with Kelvin Benjamin's catch rating. That sounds like a fair trade-off with dropping his RTE some and increasing his CTH
