Was the first weekend of the season everything you expected?
I was actually shocked last night that the Ducks lost. I thought it would be close but I certainly didn't expect the LSU run over Oregon that I seen.
The USF vs. Notre Dame went as I expected it to. The TCU game however was a real shocker, I didn't see it coming.
So what did you all think??

I know the rest of the country hates hearing this, but living in SEC country has taught me to never be surprised if a good SEC team beats a good other conference team--we almost come to expect it. The Boise State/Georgia game doesn't count because of the ranking discrepancy, but if they're both in the top 10 I always just expect the SEC team to win. It's like when Tiger Woods was still good; he might not have won a tournament in 10 matches, but it's hard to pick against him.
The South Carolina/East Carolina line was 21, and I picked them not to cover; I actually thought the Gamecocks would only win by 14-17 points. I had a feeling USF would knock off the world's most overrated football team. I was very impressed by North Carolina; many fans said they would not go to games because of Butch Davis' firing, but the guys played emotional and well--because of that, I actually look for an emotional let down by the Heels next week because they might be mentally tired. I also did not see TCU losing that game. I thought Auburn would struggle but end up pulling away by double digits but I was wrong about that, too.

Regarding USF and Notre Dame, as you expected it to? How do you expect a team to turn the ball over four or five times in a game? From what I read from the stats and saw of that game Notre Dame would (should) have won that game handily. They had over 500 yards of offense compared to half that for USF. Only reason USF won that game was because Notre Dame pretty much handed it to them by making as many opening day mistakes as humanly possible.

We didn't expect ND to turn the ball over; I believe some people just thought ND would lose somehow--not knowing how, but somehow.
Just like I thought LSU would beat Oregon. I had no idea that Oregon would turn the ball over like that, and I didn't think LSU would win BECAUSE Oregon would turn the ball over; I just figured the Tigers would win, not knowing how.
Hope that makes sense.

The first weekend was what I expected, exciting college football. A few thoughts:
Utah State --- thought going into the game they could pull it off, should have practiced onside kicks
Duke and Oregon State --- You are FBS, not FCS.....oh wait....
Ronnie Hillman, SDSU --- hope the nation takes notice of him, since it took people awhile to follow Marshall Faulk
Oregon --- I think they over-estimated that their team speed was superior to LSU, recruit heavier line players
USC --- I know they aren't playing for anything, but pathetic effort against Minnesota
Michigan --- enjoy the hype early, won't carry through the Big 10 season
Georgia --- Mark Reicht, if you don't shock South Carolina, you are out of a job
Virginia Tech --- congrats on winning their first opening season win in 4 years
USF --- thank you for winning the game because many coworkers were over hyping Notre Dame and I said Game 1 would = a loss
