This is great news for our team. Bullard was a backup OL for Notre Dame but he is from Tennessee. His dad died so he wanted to come back closer to home and the NCAA ruled that he is eligible this season. He should be the top backup for us on the OL.

Starting WLB Herman Lathers fractured his ankle and will be out a while. Lathers is unlikely to be available at the start of the season. This a huge loss as he is our returning leading tackler and is the only returning starter at linebacker, our weakest position. It is likely that Austin Johnson moves from MLB to WLB and John Propst starts at MLB while Lathers is out. Freshman A.J. It is thought that Tennessee will likely move C James Stone to LG and put Alex Bullard at C in an effort to get the best 5 offensive linemen on the field. Stone played C last year, but he is a natural guard and would be better there. He is also left handed and that causes problems with the snaps. As long as Bullard can transition to C smoothly, they will likely make the change. Bullard is cleary the most talented lineman currently not starting and he seems to have more talent than the current starter at LG.

Tennessee junior WR Da'Rick Rogers has been suspended indefinitely by head coach Derek Dooley for violation of team rules.

Beat writer Evan Woodberry added that Rogers' status for the rest of the season is uncertain. The junior's collegiate career has certainly had its ups and downs, specifically off the field. Rogers, on multiple occasions, has contemplated transferring and CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman asserted that from what he had heard from sources, he was surprised Dooley allowed Rogers to stay with the team. Although we consider junior Justin Hunter the better receiver, Rogers was the team's best offensive option that stayed healthy last season. JUCO transfer Cordarrelle Patterson will likely step into Rogers' vacancy in two receiver sets.

Junior WR Da'Rick Rogers has transferred from Tennessee to Tennessee Tech and took part in team meetings on Sunday.

Tennessee backup "Jack" freshman LB LaTroy Lewis is out for the 2012 season with a torn ACL.

Junior LB Jacques Smith is the Vols starter at the Jack position in Sal Suner's new 3-4 defense. Senior Willie Bohannon could see more snaps as Smith's backup now. Tennessee opens with a solid test against NC State and senior QB Mike Glennon.

After initially being the lone suspect in the theft of an iPhone, Tennessee freshman Deion Bonner was not arrested as the alleged victim declined to pursue charges against the player.

That, though, did not end the defensive back’s problems.

The Knoxville News Sentinel is reporting that Bonner has been indefinitely suspended by the Vols for unspecified violation of team rules. It’s unclear at this time whether the suspension is in any way related to the early-November incident.

Suspended indefinitely by former head coach Derek Dooley, Deion Bonner apparently won’t get the opportunity to make amends under new head coach Butch Jones either.

Tennessee confirmed to the Knoxville News Sentinel Tuesday that the defensive back, along with fellow freshmen defensive linemen Trent Taylor (no relation) and Omari Phillips, are no longer a part of the football team. While Bonner is still listed as a UT student, the other two are no longer registered.
