Once a verbal commitment to North Texas, Sam Rice is, a couple of years and one stop later, following through on that pledge.

While the school has yet to announce his addition, the Denton Chronicle, citing a source close to the situation, is reporting that the offensive lineman has decide to transfer from SMU to UNT. As the Chronicle notes, Rice had verbally committed to the Mean Green in December of 2011 before flipping and signing with the Mustangs the following February.

On SMU’s online roster, Rice is no longer listed.

Rice will likely be forced to sit out the 2014 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules. Beginning in 2015, Rice would have two years to use his remaining two seasons of eligibility.

Already this offseason, North Texas has added a pair of transfers from FBS football programs. Reportedly, you can add a third into the mix.

Citing a school source, the Denton Chronicle is reporting that Jordan Richmond has decided to continue his collegiate playing career at North Texas. The linebacker played his high school football in Denton, Tex., where he turned into a four-star member of the Aggies’ 2012 recruiting class.

Rashad and Vershad Jackson confirmed to the Denton Chronicle that they both have decided to transfer to North Texas to continue their playing careers. The twin brothers are transferring into the Mean Green football program from New Mexico by way of Blinn College.

The defensive backs had originally committed to Washington State before signing with New Mexico. Vershad (pictured) played in seven games in 2012 while Rashad played in six that year, but both were dismissed from the Lobos shortly before the start of the 2013 season following a dispute with the coaching staff.

Former K-State O-lineman lands at North Texas

A few months after deciding to leave Kansas State, it appears Aderius Epps has found himself a new college football home.

While North Texas has yet to announce his addition to the roster, Epps confirmed to the Denton Chronicle that he will continue his playing career with the Mean Green. The Dallas high school product said a family health issue played a significant role in his decision to transfer to UNT.

Because of that family health issue, Epps will be filing an appeal for a waiver that would grant him immediate eligibility. If granted, he’d have three years of eligibility remaining.

If he’s forced to sit out the 2014 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules, he’s have two years remaining beginning in 2015.
