A little over a week after it was reported that Gunner Kiel would be transferring to Cincinnati, the move has officially come to fruition.

In a press release, head coach Tommy Tuberville announced that the quarterback has enrolled at the school and will join the football team for the 2013 season. Kiel, who announced last month that he was transferring from Notre Dame, will begin classes May 6.

Another ND player transfers to Cinci, eligible

Tight end Jake Golic (pictured left) never made much of an impact on the field for Notre Dame. That’s understandable considering he sat behind guys like Tyler Eifert and Kyle Rudolph. Now, the son of former Irish and NFL defensive lineman Mike Golic will spend his final year of eligibility somewhere else.

Mike Golic said on ESPN’s “Mike and Mike” that his son will transfer to Cincinnati as a grad student and be eligible to play right away.

Kicker transfers from Tennessee

On Twitter Sunday afternoon, kicker Andrew Gantz announced he was leaving the Vols and will be playing for Cincinnati in 2013. As was the case at UT, Gantz will be a preferred walk-on at UC, where Butch Jones had served as the head coach for the past four years before coming to Knoxville to replace the deposed Derek Dooley.

Just a day after Bret Bielema confirmed that Mekale McKay would be transferring from the Hogs, the first-year coach shed light on where the sophomore would be heading.

Bielema said that McKay will transfer to the University of Cincinnati to play under first-year coach Tommy Tuberville

In May, Jake Golic transferred from Notre Dame to Cincinnati with the hopes of playing his final collegiate season with the Bearcats.

Unfortunately, a recurring health issue won’t allow that to happen at UC, or anywhere else for that matter.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the tight end, the son of former Notre Dame star and current ESPN personality Mike Golic, has been forced to end his collegiate playing career due to a chronic back issue.

Cincinnati lineman Ben Flick dies in car accident

Cincinnati offensive lineman Ben Flick died as a result of a car accident on Saturday night. Teammates Mark Barr and Javon Harrison were injured in the accident.
