NC State loses CB to injury
It appears that redshirt sophomore cornerback Jarvis Byrd has torn his ACL and will be lost for the season. The injury is Byrd’s second ACL tear — one in each knee — since arriving on campus in 2009.
Heading into 2011, NC State’s official site tabbed Byrd as the Wolfpack’s starting at boundary corner heading into preseason camp.
O’Brien also noted that redshirt freshman offensive lineman Torian Box had left the program.

NC State picks up LSU transfer
Just a little over a week after he announced he was transferring from LSU, Cameron Fordham has found himself a new college football home.
According to the Charlotte Observer, the offensive lineman has decided to transfer to North Carolina State. The school confirmed the addition to their roster Friday, the same day Fordham first practiced with his new team.
Presumably, Fordham will be forced to sit out the 2011 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules. Fordham will have three years of eligibility beginning in 2012.

Re: NC State news
Appearing on the wrong end of the post-spring depth chart, a pair of safeties have decided to take their collective leaves from North Carolina State.
Head coach Tom O’Brien announced Friday that Donald Coleman and Dean Haynes (pictured) have decided to transfer from his football program.
Coleman, a Princeton, NJ, native, has already graduated as a rising redshirt junior and would be eligible to play immediately if he decided to transfer to a Div. 1-A (FBS) program. Haynes, who played his high school football in Georgia, would’ve been a redshirt junior in 2012 but, unlike Coleman, has not yet graduated.
In 2010 as a redshirt freshman, Haynes moved from defensive back to running back shortly before the start of the season and finished third on the team in rushing with 320 yards and three rushing touchdowns. He was moved back to defense last year.
Both players played mainly on special teams in 2011.
Additionally, quarterback Brian Taylor (no relation), who was third on the spring depth chart, has decided to quit playing football but will remain in school.

Re: NC State news
Robert Caldwell -- a beast JUCO linebacker did qualify and we lost Peek to injury.
Obviously, Peek will still be on the rosters for the game in 2013, but I wanted to make sure luvtotha9's was up to date about the addition of Caldwell.
We also lost Tyler Brosius, back up QB, to grades. He has transferred to a smaller school to play baseball, but the rumor was it was his lack of work in the classroom that sent him packing.
He needs to be deleted from the 2013 roster.

Re: NC State news
Two players dismissed from NC State
It’s been a tough go for North Carolina State running back Mustafa Greene, but his time with the Wolfpack has come to an abrupt halt. Coach Tom O’Brien said after Saturday’s win over Maryland that Greene has been dismissed from the team. Redshirt freshman receiver Tyrell Burriss was also shown the door.
No specific reason was given. O’Brien only said the two were not champions in the classroom or on the football field.
“They’re not going to get the opportunity to play on this football team,” O’Brien said.
Greene had led NCSU in rushing in each of the team’s first two games this season, but was suspended prior to the Wolfpack’s game against South Alabama last month.
After leading the team in rushing his true freshman season in 2010, Greene missed the 2011 season due to a foot injury. Then, he was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia in mid-April and had academic issues during the offseason

NC State picks up transfer Florida QB
After being turned away by his top choice, Jacoby Brissett reportedly has found a new college football home.
According to Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post, Brissett has decided he will be transferring to and continuing his playing career at North Carolina State. Brissett was recruiting heavily a couple of years ago by Wisconsin, and their defensive coordinator at the time, Dave Doeren, is now the Wolfpack’s head coach.
